I generally aim to practice more but life often gets in the way - tired from a big day at work or an unexpected call or meeting at the wrong time, aches and pains, weather, hangovers or sometimes just the temptation of the hammock, a good book and a beer.
That is a very good question that I have been mulling over for a couple of days (which I'm sure was the intention!). I guess it is partly to improve my riding abilities and to keep learning, partly because when I do get out I generally enjoy it & benefit from it mentally and partly because I WANT to be the guy that can do those tricks - not so much from a showing off perspective, more for the personal accomplishment.
That's a good answer. I think it's generally accepted that our strong psychological needs include autonomy, belonging (relatedness), and competence (mastery).
The latter is partly why you (and me) feel the urge to practice. Does that seem right to you?

Dogtank, you have a full and often times fulfilling life. Why mess with it by adding practice to the mix?

Not often enough
BUT I am making a dedicated effort to try and change this in the next month by
Creating a goal
Writing it down
Logging thoughts and progress
All of these inspired by you, Griff
Renee, thanks for your kind words. I'm working on a structure for the next month that will hopefully help you... and me, as well!
